Before Bon Appétit, there was no French tacos in Bali. We were the first to bring it to the island, and we brought it the right way: with the original recipe, developed in France, in the French tacos shops of Grenoble, where it all began.
French tacos was born in the early 2000s in the snack shops of Grenoble and the Lyon area, at the foot of the French Alps. Not a Mexican taco, not a burrito: a big flour tortilla folded around fries, meat, sauces and a creamy cheese sauce, then grilled flat. In a few years it became the street food of a whole generation in France.
Our recipe was not copied from photos or reinvented for tourists. It was developed in France, in the French tacos shops of Grenoble, and it dates back to the 2000s: the original recipe from the creation of French tacos. The same build, the same grilled crunch, the same cheese sauce that ties everything together, exactly as it was first made.
In 2022, Bon Appétit opened the very first French tacos restaurant in Bali. Today we have two, in Kerobokan and Pererenan, open every day until 4AM. French tacos has since become a Bali favourite, but there is only one original: the one that came straight from Grenoble.

You can eat in, take away, or order a French tacos on GrabFood or GoFood until closing, which makes it one of the few hot meals still available in Canggu and Seminyak after midnight.

Bon Appétit Pererenan, next to Canggu, serves French tacos made with halal meat every day from 11AM to 4AM: minced beef, beef bacon, marinated or plain chicken, chicken tenders, nuggets and cordon bleu are all halal, and falafel is the vegetarian option. The Kerobokan restaurant, near Seminyak, has the same halal menu and hours.
